Jerry Rice Connects Antonio Brown to 49ers

The chances of Antonio Brown returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers are very low. This speculation was essentially confirmed by Steelers owner Art Rooney II who doesn’t believe Brown will be part of the team next season.

Brown was recently benched during a pivotal game for the Steelers against the Cincinnati Bengals to make the playoffs and has had heated interactions with both head coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Brown also missed practices as well and it is believed that the absences were related to his tumultuous relationship with the team.

Brown has been named to 7 Pro Bowls and was 1st team All-Pro from 2014-2017. He was also in Superbowl XLV, where the Steelers ultimately lost to the Packers.

Enter Jerry Rice. The Hall of Famer recently stated that Brown wants to play for the 49ers “really bad.” Brown is currently in the middle of a 5-year contract worth $72.7 million so any team that trades for Brown would need to be able to absorb the remaining amount of his contract of which he is currently in his 3rd year.

Regardless of which team Antonio Brown ends up with he can surely catapult the team to a contending status given how productive he is on the field now having gone six straight seasons with at least 100 catches. However, there is now an unfortunate tag to Antonio Brown that he is somewhat of a diva and it seems like some players and coaches have had a hard time working with him.

Brown is now the 2nd high-profile NFL star to end on bad terms with the Steelers following superstar Le’Veon Bell’s absence from the entire 2018 season due to contract disputes.
