Heading into this season coming off a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, the Denver Nuggets were expected to be a contender in a competitive Western Conference. Although Denver is sitting in the 4th spot in the West, the team will have to go through the playoffs without Jamal Murray. On Tuesday, the team announced that Jamal Murray will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL. Murray suffered the injury on Monday against the Golden State Warriors late in the 4th quarter.
In 48 games this season, Murray averaged 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists in 35.5 minutes per game. Since 2018, Jamal Murray has proven to be one of the best young point guards in the NBA and help lead Denver to the Western Conference Semi-Finals and Western Conference Finals the past two seasons.
Even though the team still has Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr, losing Murray for the rest of the season is a huge loss for the Denver Nuggets. In a loaded Western Conference with teams like Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, and the Los Angeles Lakers, losing Jamal Murray can’t come at a worse time for Denver.
