Islanders Acquire Kyle Palmieri From Devils

Since acquiring Kyle Palmieri from the Anaheim Ducks in 2015 for a second and third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Palmieri had made quite the impact during his time in New Jersey scoring 24 goals or more in every season before this season. With New Jersey rebuilding and his contract expiring after this season, Palmieri’s time with the team is over. On BLANK, New Jersey traded Kyle Palmieri and Travis Zajac to New York Islanders for Greer Jobst 2021 1st round pick and a conditional 4th round pick.

In 34 games played this season, Palmieri has 8 goals, 9 assists, and a plus-minus of -2. Despite being on a rebuilding team, Palmieri has been one of the bright spots for New Jersey. Palmieri is proven to be an effective offensive player that can contribute massively on the top six and produce 20 plus goals a season.

With New York gearing for a playoff run and being 14th in the league in goal per game with 2.95 goals per game, Palmieri will instantly improve their goal scoring and help them keep up with teams like Washington, Pittsburgh, and Boston.

With New Jersey in a rebuild, the team is acquiring draft picks that can help them in the future and with Palmieri’s contract expiring after the season, the team acquiring assists for Palmieri is the better move than letting him walk for nothing after the season.
