Worrisome news out of Cleveland, as Indians’ starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco has announced he is being treated for Leukemia.
Carrasco was visiting a hospital in the Dominican Republic when he made the announcement. Carrasco said that will continue to be positive, and announcing that he will return to the team “at the end of July”. Carrasco also said that the sickness is “under control”.
Carrasco hasn’t pitched since May 30th, with the Indians putting him on the IL on June 5th. Carrasco told CDN 37 that he was having trouble with his energy levels in the month of May, and the doctors “saw something different in my blood.”
Prior to going on the IL, Carrasco made 12 starts for the Indians, and was 4-6 with a 4.98 ERA in those games.
Here’s to a speedy recovery!
