TE Austin Hooper has signed with the Cleveland Browns on a deal that will make him the highest paid tight end in the league.
According to multiple reports, Hooper’s deal will be for four years in the $11-million range.
Hooper, 25, had a career best season in 2019. He caught 75 passes for 787 yards and six touchdowns last season with the Atlanta Falcons. There has been widespread interest in Hooper throughout the league, as he was arguably the top free-agent TE on the market.
The Falcons drafted Hooper in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and he has spent his entire career in Atlanta. Over the last three seasons, he leads all tight ends with a catch percentage of 77.3%.
The Browns have suddenly become a team with a ton of explosive offensive options for QB Baker Mayfield. Along with Hooper, opposing defences will have their hands full lining up against Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, David Njoku, and Nick Chubb.
