Health Update : Oskar Lindblom

Oskar Lindblom, who was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma ( a rare blood cancer ) six months ago, skated with the Flyers today.

While the 23 year old is still receiving treatment for his disease, it’s an amazing sight to see him having fun with his teammates during such a tough time.

When the team announced his condition way back in December, they had confirmed he wouldn’t be available for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. He hinted in an interview that he wouldn’t be available for the 24 team playoff either.

He had this to say about an eventual return to the game : “That’s the only thing I’m waiting for right now, to be done with my chemo and be back with the team and play some hockey.”.

He also added the following concerning his treatment : “ Treatment’s going great and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”.

Lindblom is the Flyers’s nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy, an award given annually to one player who exemplified perseverance and determination. The winner will be announced this summer at the NHL awards ceremony.

This is great news to see in such tough times.
