One of NASCAR’s fastest rising stars has landed with a new manufacturer.
Ford Performance announced Tuesday that Hailie Deegan has signed on to its developmental program beginning in 2020. Deegan will pilot Fords in the ARCA Menards Series fielded by DGR-Crosley as well as select IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge events throughout the 2020 season.
Deegan raced last season for Bill McAnally Racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and captured two victories on the year while also competing in ten ARCA for Venturini Motorsports. The move to Ford follows two seasons racing for Toyota Racing Development.
Speaking with NASCAR.com, Deegan stated, “It was really cool because they came to me. It shows that people care, it shows that they want to be fully invested and want to better your future and have a good relationship for a long time, and that’s something that I was super-interested in when they came to me. I know that it’s going to be a crazy next year, and if everything goes well with David Gilliland Racing, which I think it will because he has such a good program, we should have some good success next year.”
While road racing hasn’t exactly been what Deegan is used to, she does know her way around tracks that consist of left and right turns. With a background in carting and off-road racing, Deegan will jump right into the fold as a pilot of a Ford Mustang GT4 next month during the IMSA Michelin Pilot race at Daytona. Her firs test behind the wheel of that machine, which she will share with fellow Ford rising star Chase Briscoe, will take place during IMSA’s Roar Before the 24 test session January 3rd thru January 5th.
