As first reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport on Twitter, former NFL quarterback Tarvaris Jackson passed away last evening in a fatal car accident. He was 36 years old.
Jackson was a second-round pick out of Alabama State by the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. There, he played five seasons, starting 20 games. The QB had his best season as a 14-game starter for the Seahawks in 2011, throwing for 3,091 yards and 14 TDs (NFL.com). He also spent time with the Buffalo Bills.
Jackson became a Super Bowl Champion in 2014, as he played backup for current Seahawks QB Russell Wilson from 2013-2015.

In 2018, Jackson transitioned from player to coach, when he returned to his alma mater as a Quality Control Assistant. In 2019 he became Tennessee State’s Quarterback Coach.
