The Minnesota Vikings have picked up free agent safety George Iloka. Being cut by the Cincinnati Bengals only 5 days ago, Iloka was not out of a job for very long. George Iloka was signed to a one year deal worth $880,000 with $90,000 guaranteed.
Former Bengals safety, George Iloka has accumulated a career total of 343 combined tackles, 32 passes defended and 9 interceptions. The 2012 fifth round pick has also started 76 games out of 83.
Minnesota boasted the number one defense in the league last year. George Iloka worked with Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer in Cincinnati, so there is some pre existing chemistry between Zimmer and Iloka. George Iloka will no doubt be battling Andrew Sendejo for the starting spot at strong safety. On paper, the Vikings defensive backfield now looks even more menacing with duo George Iloka and Harrison Smith at safety.
Will the Vikings defense remain number one this season?
