One of the top 20 teams in the nation over the past two decades will not appear in a bowl game this season. This would be the first time the Seminoles have not appeared in a bowl game since 1982. The 2018 season was full of struggles and disappointment for head coach Willie Taggart.
One of the most crucial roles in football is to be discipline. Unfortunately for the Seminoles, they showed a lack of discipline throughout the season. Taggart stated, “It’s very frustrating. It’s kind of like throughout the year where we had our struggles, we do things that cause you to lose ball games like that.” The Florida State organization has trust in Taggart and what he can bring to the team.
Deondre Francois, the starting quarterback, was not able to be consistent with the offense. Francois threw for a total of 2577 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Seminoles defense also did not play up to par this season letting opposing teams put up big numbers.
One of the most dominant teams in college football will look for redemption next season. The off-season will give the Seminoles a chance to learn Taggart’s system. A 5-7 season will only help the team come back stronger with more consistency.
