Team of the Week

This week’s team of the week goes to the Rapid City Rush. The Rush are another team who improved tremendously from last season to this season, but it all started last year at the trade deadline where they acquired Myles McGurty, Decter Dancs, Taylor Crunk, and Alex Rauter who all returned this season. The Rush are undefeated on home ice and have 2 players in the top 3 in points, Peter Quenneville and Giovanni Fiore. This team has the talent to win the Mountain Division and can very possibly represent the Western Conference in the Kelly Cup Finals.

Three Stars of the Week

Giovanni Fiore, Rapid City (3GP 4G 3 A 7pts)
Tyler Spezia, Toledo (3GP 3G 3A 6pts)
Alex Dubeau, Brampton (2-0-0 1.00 GAA .969 SV%)

NHL Network will air the 2020 ECHL All-Star Classic hosted by the Wichita Thunder live on Wednesday, January 22nd at 8:00pm EST.

All-Star Roster Predictions:

Wichita will make up two of the 4 teams, so no need to predict those two, but here are my predictions for the Eastern and Western Conference with the concept of only 1 player per team can be voted in.

Eastern Conference:

G- Parker Milner, South Carolina
D- Logan Roe, Florida
D- Joel Messner, Atlanta
D- Matt Petgrave, Brampton
F- Ralph Cuddemi, Reading
F- Giorgio Estephan, Newfoundland
F- Liam Pecararo, Greenville
F- Roman Ammirato, Norfolk
F- Taylor Cammarata, Maine
F- Hayden Verbeek, Adirondack

F- Dante Salituro, Worcester
D- Kevin Lohan, Orlando
F- Chase Lang, Jacksonville

Western Conference:
G- Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Cincinnati
D- Miles Liberati, Tulsa
D- Alex Breton, Allen
D- Brandon Anselmini, Toledo
F- Giovanni Fiore, Rapid City
F- Spencer Watson, Indy
F- Dylan Sadowy, Kalamazoo
F- Shawn St-Amant, Fort Wayne
F- Jan Drozg, Wheeling
F- Will Merchant, Idaho

F- Yuri Terao, Utah
F- Jack Walker, Kansas City

Obviously a lot will change, but these are some of the best players in the league.

ECHL Best Fighter Tourney

The Best Fighter tournament will begin next Friday after I do some research on which player per team is known for fighting. Some names that will be in the tournament for sure will be Brad Drobot, Travis Howe, Patrick McGrath, Anthony Collins, and James Melindy. Each team will have a representative.

10 Match-Ups to Watch

No particular order

  1. Toledo vs Wheeling
  2. South Carolina vs Florida (2x)
  3. Utah vs Reading
  4. Orlando vs Jacksonville
  5. Kalamazoo vs Wheeling (2x)
  6. Wheeling vs Rapid City
  7. Greenville vs Norfolk
  8. Brampton vs Toledo
  9. Fort Wayne vs Idaho
  10. Cincinnati vs Indy
