Doc Rivers Hired As Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach

After parting ways with the Los Angeles Clippers, it did not take long for Doc Rivers to find a head coaching job in the NBA. On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers hired Rivers as their next head coach according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Rivers will be taking over for Brett Brown who Philadelphia fired after getting swept by the Boston Celtics in Round 1. Brown lasted in Philadelphia for 7 seasons going 221-344 in 565 games.

Before joining Philadelphia, Rivers previously coached for the Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, and Orlando Magic. With these teams, Rivers finished with a record of 943-681 in 1624 regular-season games. In the playoffs, Rivers has a record of 91-89 in 180 playoff games. His crowning achievement came in 2008, when he won the NBA Championship with the Celtics.
