The anticipation was high for the return of Demarcus Cousins, also known as “Boogie”, and the Warriors. With a torn achilles injury, the elusive big man has not played since January, 2018.
It is clear that the Golden State Warriors have one of the most talented squads to ever step on the court. With the addition of Cousins, they add to their elite roster. In 15 minutes, Boogie had 14 points and 6 rebounds. For a guy that has not played in a year, the expectations were exceeded. Cousins brought cohesiveness to the Warriors with a plus-21 when on the court.
Steve Kerr’s team routed the Clippers 112-94. With all the hype on Boogie, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry played to their highest levels, both scoring over twenty points. After the game Cousins stated, “Honestly, I didn’t expect to play that well… things kind of got going for me, I’m happy with the results.”
There is room for improvement and recovery for the all-star center. From the small sample -size we got Friday night, the expectation is running high in Golden State for Cousins. The Warriors will face the Lakers, Wizards, and Celtics over the next three games. The hype will continue to follow Cousins as the season progresses and he makes a full throttle return.
