Coach of the Year Candidate Fired

Dwayne Casey of the Toronto Raptors has been released from his head coaching position after a second consecutive playoff exit at the hands of LeBron and the Cavaliers. He was recently voted as the best coach this season in the NBA by his fellow coaching peers.

He was Toronto’s most successful coach in franchise history and lead the Raptors to a franchise high 59 wins this season.

Casey was in line to possibly win this season’s “Coach of the Year” award, so his departure is both shocking and unexpected.

There are several other teams that are seeking a new head coach, and now that he is on the market Casey will likely be on the top of their list.

Former Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer is expected to be the first to be interviewed for the new opening in Toronto.
