Chicago Cubs Trade For Yankees Infielder

The Chicago Cubs are making a move this offseason in an attempt to keep a solid full diamond. 2B Daniel Murphy is expected to sign with a new team this offseason. It is unlikely that he re-signs with the Cubs.

With that well known, they decided to pull the trigger on New York Yankees infielder Ronald Torreyes. The trade was for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

This will be Torreyes’ second stint with the Cubs. He was in their minor league system for parts of two seasons. He was originally acquired with pitcher Travis Wood in another trade.

He is a career .261 hitter in 229 games, with 30 doubles, four triples, one home run, and 56 runs batted in.
