We are sad to announce the passing of Arizona Cardinals owner Bill Bidwill at the age of 88 today. Bidwill co-owned the Cardinals with his brother Charles since 1962, and took over as sole owner of the team in 1972. Bidwill’s adopted father, Charles Bidwill had bought the team, then named the Chicago Cardinals in 1933. After the death of his Father, Bidwill’s mother moved the team to St. Louis, where Bill and his older brother Charles inherited the team after their mother’s passing. Bidwill’s sons Michael and Bill Jr, have handled much of the owner responsibilities in recent years as President and Vice President. At the time of his death, Bill Bidwill was the longest-tenured owner in the NFL.
