Kyle Busch knows how to win when the pressure is on, and he did that again Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Busch, who was the regular season champion, crossed the finish line first on Sunday to claim his second Monster Energy Cup Series Championship and first since 2014.
Busch built up a large amount of Playoff points during the regular season, which turned out to be enough to advance him to the Championship 4. Fellow competitors Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., and Kevin Harvick all put up a valiant effort, but Busch was the man to beat on the day.
“We have a great race team and a great owner. We have the best sponsor in sports. I just can’t say enough and thank everyone enough. There’s always your doubters, always your haters. This ones for Rowdy Nation,” Busch said after the win.
Busch’s teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing Martin Truex Jr. finished second on the day. The only non-Joe Gibbs Racing driver in the Championship 4 Kevin Harvick finished in fourth behind Erik Jones, who finished in third to complete a Joe Gibbs Racing 1-2-3 on Sunday. Denny Hamlin, who won last weekend at ISM Raceway to get into the Championship 4, finished in tenth.
We here at the Game Changer Sports Network want to congratulate Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing for capturing the 2019 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Championship!
