Buccaneers vs Washington Preview – New & Improved Brady vs Young

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Washington Football Team

Tom Brady is beating out the critics that called him a “system QB” and who argued Bill Belichick was the key factor with the Patriots. Brady, in his first year leading the Buccaneers, ended the season with an 11-5 record throwing for 4,633 passing yards, 40 Touchdowns with only 12 interceptions. Last year, Brady threw for 4,057 yards and only had 24 touchdowns. The 40 touchdowns that Brady ended the season with was his 2nd highest since he started playing 20 years ago.

The Buccaneers vs Washington game on paper is a David vs Goliath matchup, with Brady being Goliath. The best thing that Washington has going is that many fans are just hyping them up and want them to succeed, but possibly their energy is fueled by false hope. Chase Young is clearly the best player for Washington, but he is also young and as dominant as he is, Young is a rookie, and this is his first taste of the big lights of postseason football.

Any team can beat any team any given Sunday, or Saturday in this case.  The possibility that Brady comes out and has three interceptions in the game like he had against the Saints in Week 9 could still happen.  The Buccaneers should get an A grade in the terms of how they have handled Brady and how they have truly gone all out for him (possibly even putting all of their eggs in one basket).  The Buccaneers allowed only 21 sacks of Brady on the season and have surrounded him with both air and ground weapons.  With the playoffs upon us, all eyes are on Brady as we will see if he can lead them to the promised land.

While a win is possible, Washington needs to play their best brand of football. Even if they lose to the Buccaneers, they can still make the argument that they beat both the Eagles and Cowboys. Washington is a feel-good story especially with Alex Smith making his amazing return to the field. Washington’s goal is to prove or validate that even with a losing record they are a playoff team and deserve their spot. Washington may have not had a true team name but what they do have is the opportunity to set themselves as the new “Sheriff” of the NFC East.
