Buccaneers Name Bruce Arians As New Head Coach

One of the most respected coaches in the past decade has signed a 4-year deal with the Bucs. Arians had retired from being a head coach at the end of the 2017 season but will be returning to his duties next season down south.

In a short time of being a head coach in the NFL (2012-2017), Arians achieved greatness. After head coach Chuck Pagano took a leave of absence due to being diagnosed with Leukemia, Arians served as the interim coach for the Indianapolis Colts. The AP Coach of the year was given to Arians after finishing the remainder of the season with a 9-3 record. This was the first time in history this award was given to an interim coach, hence Arians quick success in the NFL.

The Bucs will start off the 2019-2020 season on a high note. Arians will try to develop Jameis Winston to be the star quarterback he was expected to be. The fourth-year pro has struggled over his time with the Bucs, however, a change within the organization could spark a change. Sources have also stated that Todd Bowles, the former New York Jets head coach, will be joining forces with Arians and the Bucs as the defensive coordinator.

There is only room for improvement for a team that finished the season 5-11. Many questioned the coaching moves of Dirk Koetter to play Winston over Ryan Fitzpatrick when in the first two games of the 2018 season, the backup quarterback was magical. The team chose to stick with Winston as the starter moving forward.

The signing of Arians has already brought excitement to fans and players. The Bucs are on the bottom of the totem pole and will begin to gradually build their way back up.
