Brewster and Jones headline Liverpool’s Youth League roster

Liverpool has released the names of 40 prospects who will compete in the UEFA Youth League this season. High profile academy standouts Rhian Brewster and Curtis Jones will headline what is sure to be an exciting group of young Reds who are poised to win the greatest competition in European academy soccer.

These 40 athletes will first compete in the Group Stage where the youngsters from Merseyside will challenge promising players from Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, and Red Star Belgrade, just as the senior side will in the UCL. The young Reds begin their Youth League road tomorrow when they take on PSG at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

LFC U18’s manager Barry Lewtas has been tapped to coach this group of players. He was originally brought into the club a few years ago as Liverpool’s U16 gaffer and has since moved up to his current post after Stephan Gerrard made his jump to Rangers.

The squad will feature a number of players that fans have grown fond of in recent months. Goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, midfielder Curtis Jones, and forwards Rhian Brewster and Rafa Camacho all earned minutes with the senior club over the summer. But there are some newcomers that appear set to begin their legacies at Merseyside.

The team lists five over-age players as well. These prospects are allowed as they were all born in 1999, the cutoff year for the Youth League, however, only three of them are allowed to start in any given game. These players are the aforementioned Grabara, Adam Lewis, Liam Coyle, Bobby Adekanye, and Liam Millar.

One player who will not be suiting up for the youth squad is goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who is essentially a full member on the senior side as the third keeper.

But with all that being said, here is the entire roster. (*Overage players)

GOALKEEPERS – Grabara*, Jaros, Kelly

DEFENDERS – Boland, Boyes, Clayton, Hoever, Larouci, Lewis*, Lloyd, Savage, Walls, N. Williams, R. Williams

MIDFIELDERS – Beck, Brookwell, Cain, Clarkson, Corness, Coyle*, Dixon-Bonner, Jones, Morton, Norris, Ritaccio, Sharif, Stewart, Tagseth, Turner, Varesanovic

FORWARDS – Adekanye*, Bearne, Brewster, Camacho, Duncan, Glatzel, Longstaff, McAuley, Millar*, O’Rourke
