The Baltimore Ravens have decided to move on from quarterback Joe Flacco. Lamar Jackson will be the official starter moving forward.
The Super Bowl MVP has been with the Ravens for 11 years and in 2013, Flacco led the team to a Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers. With a big contract after the season, many thought Flacco would play and end his career in Baltimore.
According to Adam Schefter, via Twitter, the trade cannot be processed until March 13th when the new NFL league year begins.
For the Broncos, the acquisition of Flacco is a step in the right direction. Even with low numbers in the past few years, he is still considered an elite NFL quarterback.
Lamar Jackson will have his work cut out for his starting role on the team. Jackson is a talented athlete, especially in the run game, but will need to improve on his passing game to be successful in the league.
The Broncos utilized Case Keenum last year and he was not as impressive as he was when he was in Minnesota, so the acquisition of Flacco could relegate Keenum to a backup role.
