In a shocking development in the NXT roster, it has been reported by multiple sources that NXT wrestler Aleister Black has allegedly suffered an injury during an NXT house show in Las Vegas that will necessitate surgery and down-time.
The injury was said to have occurred during a match with NXT Tommaso Ciampa, where Ciampa reportedly ‘crotched’ Black. While the extent of the injury has yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed at this time that Black will be out of action for now. According to the Wrestling Observer News, there have been reports from officials that everything ‘is okay but the entire situation was scary’.
Aleister Black is one of NXT’s most featured main-eventers at this time, recently holding the NXT Championship for 102 days before losing the title to current champion, Tommaso Ciampa, following interference from Johnny Gargano. In that match, Gargano, who was in a current feud with Ciampa, had attempted to prevent Ciampa’s usage of the championship in the match, accidentally catching Black in the head with the title and costing him his championship. While it hasn’t been confirmed at this time, it is believed that Black would be participating in NXT’s Takeover: Brooklyn IV card.
As of this writing, his status on the card is unknown, but given that the show is right around the corner, chances may be slim in regards to his participation in the event. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
