Renault announced Wednesday that 2-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso will return to the sport, pairing with Esteban Ocon for the 2021 Formula 1 season. Alonso’s two championships were won with Renault in 2005 and 2006, while also claiming 17 wins with the team. The 38-year old has been out of the sport since the end of the 2018, where he competed in IndyCar, IMSA and the WEC. While he is set to challenge again for the famed Triple Crown of Motorsports in August at the Indianapolis 500, during his time away Alonso was able to claim a 24 Hours of LeMans victory to add to his impressive resume. All the evades him for claiming the Triple Crown is the Indianapolis 500.
