Boston Bruins’ Forward David Backes has been suspended by the NHL three games for his illegal hit to the head on New Jersey’s Blake Coleman.
Backes will also forfeit $220,000 of his salary, and this will result in him missing the Winter Classic against the Chicago Blackhawks at Norte Dame New Year’s Day.
The repeat offender was assessed a minor penalty on the play.
