Arkansas Hires Musselman as Next Head Coach

Eric Musselman has been hired as the next head basketball coach at the University of Arkansas.

Mussleman has extensive head coaching experience, having coached the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Musselman also coached in the NBA D-Leauge with assistant stops at Arizona State University and LSU. Musselman became the head coach at Nevada in 2015 and during his four years in Nevada he led the Wolfpack to a 110-34 record with three Mountain West Conference regular season titles in four years. In 2017, he led the Wolfpack to their first top 25 ranking in ten years. During the 2018-2019 season, Nevada had its highest rankings in program history, coming in at number five in the AP poll.

At Arkansas, he takes over for Mike Anderson who spent eight seasons as head coach. Anderson had a record of 169-102 but only made three NCAA tournament appearances. β€œHe has been successful throughout his career, including the remarkable job he did returning the University of Nevada into a perennial NCAA tournament team. Coach Musselman is high-energy and possesses an extremely high basketball IQ,” Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek stated in a news release. He will work with an Arkansas team that went 18-16 last season while going 8-10 in SEC play. The Razorbacks were eliminated in the second round of the NIT.
