Anthony Davis Declines Extension

Anthony Davis Declines Extension

When Anthony Davis joined LeBron James in LA this summer, every one knew this duo would be unstoppable. Together, they have kept the Lakers at the number one seed in the Western Conference all season.

The Lakers offered Davis a 4 year / 142 million dollar contract extension but he has since declined and will be testing out Free Agency. This might be a play for a max deal because with the momentum they currently have, its hard to see Davis winning a championship any where else. If he can stay healthy, that is.

Davis suffered a fall in the third quarter of a victory against the New York Knicks. What initially looked much more scary and lasting turned out to only be a buttocks contusion. Davis will likely sit the next game or two but is still traveling with the team.

The Lakers are built around James and Davis. Without Davis, the team could start to look a lot like last years Lakers. In every season he’s played so far, he has never played more than 75 games. If he can manage to stay healthy and the Lakers keep playing the way they have been, a max deal is not out of the question at all.
