On March 12th, it was reported that Andrade has asked for his release from the WWE. After the report came out, it came out that WWE turned down his request to be released. Just a week after denying him of his release looks like the company changed their mind. On Sunday Night, Andrade was released from the WWE after six years with the company.
This news comes several months after his manager Zelina Vega got released from the WWE due to her not agreeing with WWE policy on streaming online. After Vega got cut from the company, Andrade has not been seen in WWE ever since. The last time Andrade had a match on live television was October 12th, 2020.
Since signing with WWE, Andrade has been an NXT Champion and the United States Champion. Andrade also won the match of the year award in NXT in 2019 for his match against Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover Philadelphia.
During his time with NXT, Andrade showcased his athletic ability and his ability to put on amazing wrestling matches. Even though Andrade was not incredible on the mic, his wrestling made up for it with Vega as his manager. Even though Andrade became United States Champion on the main roster, he was underutilized for most of his time on the main roster.
With Andrade now a free agent, expect wrestling companies like AAA, CMLL, NJPW, and Impact Wrestling, to try to sign him to their respective companies.
