Aaron Judge Placed On 10-Day DL

The New York Yankees have officially placed star outfielder Aaron Judge on the 10-Day disabled list after being hit in the wrist during the first inning of last nights game against the Kansas City Royals.

Judge, who up to this point was hitting a hot bat at .283 with 26 HR and 61 RBI’s, suffered a chip fracture in his right wrist after being hit by a 93 mph fastball thrown by Jakob Junis. Judge would later bat in the third inning, getting himself a single, before being forced to exit Yankee stadium and given an MRI at a local hospital.

The loss of Judge comes on what many Yankee fans considered a positive day, the Yankees had acquired lefty J.A. Happ from Toronto only hours before game time in the Bronx, and cruised their way to victory with a 7-2 victory last night. That combined with a Red Sox loss leaves the Yankees only 4 1/2 games out of first place in the AL East.

While the post-season is still far away enough, with the Red Sox being as successful as they have been, every series the Yanks can pick up is valuable. With Judge now out for the time being, how will this affect the Yankees run production as they look to close the gap between them and their Boston rivals? Currently both teams are in an all out sprint to avoid being placed in the single elimination Wild Card game.

While the Yankees say that Judge will not need surgery, Judge will not be able to swing a bat for at least three weeks. With that, infielder Tyler Wade was called up from the teams Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier today.
