76ers Knock-Off the Brooklyn Nets to Advance in Playoffs

Tuesday night brought some great games of basketball, and the 76ers knocking off the Brooklyn Nets was one of them. The series going into game five was in-favor of the 76ers 3-1 and they were able to close out the series with a final score of 122-100.

This series between the Nets and the 76ers has been headlined by the heated rivalry between Jared Dudley and Ben Simmons. We saw them go at each other a few times throughout the series, but Ben Simmons stepped up for the 76ers and played a great series.

However, Joel Embiid was the star of the show in Tuesday nights win. He had an impressive game all around. Embiid was responsible for 23 points of the Sixers 122, and he hauled in a team high 13 rebounds setting him up for what ended up being another double-double performance by the big man. Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris also had good showing for the Sixers. Simmons racked in 13 points and was a star when it came to sharing the ball recording 6 assists. Harris was close to earning himself a double-double scoring 12 points and recording 8 rebounds.

Brooklyn didn’t seem to have the puzzle pieces to get an edge in the series. D’Angelo Russell was the go to player in the series, but didn’t produce enough to get them the edge, and he did not have a great performance in game 5. The Nets had to rely on bench players to make up the difference in the game. Caris LeVert was one of the only starters who made a difference with his 18 point performance.

Regardless if it was lackluster defense, offense, or a combination of the two, the Philadelphia 76ers seemed to be the better team throughout the series. Next up for Philadelphia is the second seed Toronto Raptors. The Sixers have a long road ahead of them, but getting out of the first round was the first step in their road to the Eastern Conference finals.
