Coming off a 9-4 record last season and losing to Alabama in the Citrus Bowl 35-14, this season was nothing short of disappointing for Michigan with the team finishing in 5th place in the Big Ten East Division with a 2-4 record. After the disappointing season, speculation appeared about Jim Harbaugh and if he would stay at Michigan despite interest from NFL teams and now we have an answer.
According to The Athletic, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan are close to finalizing an extension to keep him at the school. The contract is a 5- year deal worth $4 million a season with a chance to double with incentives and a low buyout clause. Harbaugh was hired in 2016 as Head Coach replacing Brady Hoke.
In 5 seasons with Michigan, Harbaugh has a record of 49-22 and finished no better than 3rd place in the Big Ten East Division outside of 2018 where he finished tied for 1st. In 5 bowl games with Michigan, Harbaugh has a record of 1-4.
