It’s Legends Night WWE fans! Legends like Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Big Show Mark Henry and many more!
The Game Changer Sports Network presents to you, the first wrestling recap article of the new year!

Match Results

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) defeated The Miz and John Morrison
(This match was set up by Teddy Long!)

The Phenominal A.J. Styles (with Amos) defeated Elias (with Jaxson Ryker)
(Ryker attempted to attack Styles after the match with a guitar, but Amos kicked the guitar out Rykers hands, destroying it!)

Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans defeated WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Asuka
(Ric Flair inadvertently cost Charlotte and Asuka the match!)

Riddle defeated WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley
(Riddle tapped to Hurt Lock, but referee did not see it. Riddle recovers to roll up Lashley for the victory!)

Dana Brooke defeated Shayna Baszler
(Match was supposed to be Mandy Rose versus Baszler, but Baszler attacked Rose before the start of the match. Brooke ran down to make the save, but then challenged Baszler to a match. Brooke won via pinfall, but was put in the kirifuda clutch. Rose returned to the ring to get revenge on Baszler)

Randy Orton defeated Jeff Hardy
(Orton spent the evening leading up to this match harassing legends backstage, including Big Show, Mark Henry and Ric Flair. Orton won with an RKO after countering Jeff Hardy’s Twist of Fate! After last week’s encounter, there was no sign of Alexa Bliss or The Fiend Bray Wyatt)

The Lucha House Party defeated the Hurt Business (WWE Raw Tag Team Champions Shelton Benjamin and Cendric Alexander
(Benjamin and Alexander could not get on the same page, with both trying one up each other. The lack of focus cost the Hurt Business, as the Lucha House Party claimed the victory. After the match, MVP tried to get the two on the same page, but Alexander walked off leaving MVP and Benjamin behind in anger!)

R-Truth defeated Angel Garza to become WWE 24-7 Champion for 3,585th time (It’s what it feels like!)
(Garza won the belt from Truth on New Years Eve on Tik-Tok. Distracted by the Boogeyman, Truth rolled up Garza to win the title)

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre defeated Keith Lee to retain his WWE Championship
(Fantastic match for the title between the two, with McIntyre retaining)

Apart from your normal WWE legends night we have seen in the past (various backstage interactions, run ins, etc.) tonight’s felt a lot different with no fans in attendance. However, having all of the legends on stage for the main event was a nice touch.

ONE GOOD

The WWE Championship match between Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee was everything it should have been between two of the biggest and most athletic big men in the company. Hard hitting, back and fourth and big spots between the two, including Keith Lee hitting a top rope Spanish Fly on McIntyre, was exactly how this match should have and was played out. Keith Lee definitely has the skills to become a world champion in, hopefully, the near future. Whether WWE makes the right call and puts him at the top of the card and gives him a run as champion remains to be seen. One thing I do know is Keith Lee matches are money.

ONE BAD

Goldberg. Just as McIntyre alluded to at the end of the show, 20 years ago, this would have been an amazing match and one I personally would be excited to watch. But, in 2021, Goldberg is 54 years old. What kind of match can he put on at age 54? Take a look back at his match with the Undertaker at Super Showdown. It was nothing as it should have been, and both the careers of the Undertaker and Goldberg will have that blemish on it for eternity. It doesn’t destroy their legacies, but it doesn’t help them either. While McIntyre is perfectly capable of matches at a high caliber, I don’t expect to see the same from Goldberg. While my inner fan wants to see this match, my brain tells me no. The match that ended the show tonight could very easily have been one of the main events of the Royal Rumble. However, we now get to see Goldberg, again, wrestle for a championship in WWE at 54.

There you have it, the first WWE Raw show of 2021! What did you think of the show? Agree with my comments? Make sure to voice your opinion in the comments section!
