The Minnesota Vikings were stunned by the Dallas Cowboys Sunday with Andy Dalton defeating Kirk Cousins 31-28.

The Vikings were coming off a victory over the Chicago Bears and were looking to keep their wild card hopes alive. They came face to face with a Cowboys team who has been struggling at the quarterback position since Dak Prescott injured his ankle in week 5 against the Giants. Dalton took over the starting role for Prescott following the injury, but was then ruled out with a concussion and then with COVID-19. He missed two games, then the Cowboys headed into the bye week and looked towards the Vikings.

Dalton said while he was quarantined with COVID, he got some “conditioning” in and it definitely showed. Dalton threw for 203 yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception to give the Cowboys the win. Ezekiel Elliot also rushed for 103 yards.

The Vikings did not go down without a fight. Cousins had 314 passing yards and threw for 3 touchdowns. Adam Thielen caught two of them and had 123 yards along with Justin Jefferson adding another touchdown to his already rock-solid rookie season. Dalvin Cook also rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown. The downfall for the Vikings was definitely the turnovers, losing 2 fumbles. The Cowboys capitalized on both, scoring 10 points off the offense’s misfortunes.

The now 3-7 Cowboys look to take down the Washington Football Team in the Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving. The 4-6 Minnesota Vikings will try to right the ship against Christian McCaffrey and the Carolina Panthers next Sunday.
