The Buffalo Bills entered their AFC East match-up against the win less New York Jets with one goal in mind: win. After two consecutive weeks of losses against the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs, the Buffalo Bills defeated the New York Jets 18-10 Sunday at MetLife Stadium. However, they won in a fashion that is unconventional compared to the Bills’ previous wins this season. The Bills won the game without scoring a single touchdown, instead relying on six field goals by kicker Tyler Bass.

At one point in the first half, it seemed as though the tide was turning for the New York Jets, as they led the game 10-0. However, Buffalo’s defense held the Jets to four yards of total offense in the third and fourth quarters, completing the comeback and securing the win. Josh Allen spearheaded the Bills’ comeback, completing 30 of 43 pass attempts for 307 yards. The Bills’ rushing attack was also led by Allen, who carried the ball 11 times for 61 yards. Cole Beasley led the Bills receiving corps with 11 catches for 112 yards, while Stefon Diggs snagged six passes for 48 yards.

As has been the case for the entirety of the 2020 NFL season, the New York Jets’ offense struggled. Sam Darnold completed only 12 of 23 pass attempts for 120 yards and two interceptions. The lone bright spot on the Jets offense was the running game, as both Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine each rushed the ball 11 times for 60 and 39 yards respectively, with Perine finding the end zone for his first NFL touchdown. Both rookie Denzel Mims and Braxton Berrios hauled in 4 catches for the Jets, but both were held to under 50 yards receiving. Mims made his NFL debut for the Jets and immediately made an impact for the team, although his impact was not a factor in the Jets’ outcome.

In week eight of the NFL season, the Bills will host division rival the New England Patriots, while the New York Jets travel to Arrowhead to face the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
