Leading up to the 2020 MLB Playoffs, the Chicago White Sox were looking to make some noise and go far in the playoffs. In the American League Wild Card series, the team got eliminated by the Oakland Athletics in 3 games. After losing to Oakland, manager Rick Renteria got a lot of criticism and now he is out in Chicago. On Monday, despite making the playoffs for the first time since 2008, the Chicago White Sox fired Rick Renteria after 4 seasons. Renteria has been with the team since the 2017 season.

In 545 games with Chicago, Rick Renteria has a record of 236-309. In 4 seasons with the team, the Chicago White Sox finished no better than 3rd place in every season outside of this season where the team finished 2nd. During his tenure, the team only made the playoffs once only to get beat by the Oakland Athletics in 3 games.
