According to multiple reports coming from Italy, Juventus have reportedly completed a move for 22-year-old winger Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina. The Italian will move to Turin on a two-year loan spell, but afterwards, Juve will pay around 50 million euros to complete the full transfer. Chiesa has apparently already completed his medical evaluation and will sign his new five-year contract with the club tomorrow.

The reigning Serie A league champions have made a number of intriguing moves during this window. They bolstered their striker depth with former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea goalscorer Alvaro Morata. They switched Miralem Pjanic with Barcelona for young midfielder Arthur Melo. And they also added American star Weston McKennie from Schalke. Adding a winger like Chiesa wasn’t exactly expected, however given the hype surrounding the youngster, they were wise in making the move.

The 22-year-old may seem young on paper, but he already has a wealth of experience in the Italian top flight. He started his professional career with Fiorentina back in 2016 and hit the ground running as one of Italy’s most intriguing young prospects. While he’s not known as an aggressive goal scorer, he’s wildly praised as an adept passer and a strong willed defender. Think of him as an Italian version of Liverpool’s Diego Jota.

Similar to the new Liverpool signing, Chiesa has also been linked with a few clubs this summer. The two most notable rumors surrounding him involved Manchester United and one of Juve’s key rivals, Inter Milan. However, given Juve’s incredible reach and power, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Chiesa elected to line up with manager Andrea Pirlo and fellow forwards Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo.

As for where he might find himself on Pirlo’s roster, expect him to compete for time with fellow right winger Dejan Kulusevski, who’s been filling in for the injured Federico Bernardeschi. However, if Juve’s new manager wants to try him up top, there’s no better player to pair off with Chiesa than Ronaldo, who heads into his age 35 season just as dominant as he’s ever been. If neither of those assignments work out, he could always start out as the club’s super sub to be used in drastic situations.
