Heading into Week 3, the New England Patriots were looking to rebound from a 35-30 loss to the Seattle Seahawks against the Las Vegas Raiders. At the end of the day, New England got the job done picking up the win against Las Vegas 36-20

After an impressive game against Seattle, Cam Newton threw for 162 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception with a passer rating of 73.8. On the ground, Newton ran for 27 yards on 9 carries while averaging 3.2 yards per rushing attempt. Even though Newton did not have amazing numbers, he did enough to lead New England to a win.

While Newton did what it took to win the game, the New England Patriots running game was a huge factor giving Newton a lot of support on offense. Sony Michel led the team in rushing yards going for 117 yards on 9 attempts Michel also had 2 catches for 23 yards. Although Michel led the team in yards, he was not the running back that made an impact in this game. Rex Burkhead ran for 49 yards, 2 touchdowns on 6 attempts.

At Wide Receiver, Cam Newton had Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Damiere Byrd to throw to, but Rex Burkhead was the one that made the biggest impact today on the receiving side of things. Burkhead had 7 receptions for 49 yards and 1 touchdown.

After leading Las Vegas to a win over New Orleans last week, Derek Carr threw for 261 yards, 2 touchdowns with a passer rating of 119.4. On the ground, Carr ran for 10 yards on 2 attempts. Despite Carr going for over 200 yards and over 100 passer rating, Carr made mistakes throughout the game leading towards two fumbles recovered by Lawrence Guy and Deatrich Wise Jr.

Outside of Carr, there were not a lot of bright spots on the Raiders offense, but one player that was a bright spot was Josh Jacobs. Jacobs rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries while averaging 4 yards per attempt. Even though Jacobs had a decent day running the football, he also had a fumble which was recovered by New England.

Heading into this game, the Las Vegas Raiders were riding a lot of momentum on offense and the New England Patriots found a way to keep Las Vegas in check on offense. As stated earlier, New England caused 3 fumbles one of them happening at the end zone resulting in a touchdown. Outside of the fumbles, New England had two sacks and five quarterback hits. Chase Winovich led the way in the second quarter with 1 tackle, 1 sack, 2 QB hits, and a forced fumble.

Even though at the end of the day it resulted in a loss, the Las Vegas Raiders kept New England in check for the majority of the first half only allowing New England to 13 points in the first half keeping it close heading into halftime. Although the team kept it close in the first half, it was not enough in the second half. Maxx Crosby led the way with 2 sacks.

After a win against Las Vegas, New England is on the road traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to play the defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City is playing on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.

After a loss against New England, Las Vegas is home next week playing host to the Buffalo Bills who are 3-0. Buffalo is coming off a last-second 35-32 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
