Leo Messi may be staying at Barcelona for at least one more season, but he will be without another one of his key teammates. Arturo Vidal, who started competing at the Camp Nou in 2018, has completed a move to Serie A title contender Inter Milan. The 33-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the surging club after Inter agreed to send around one million euros to Barcelona for his services.

The move will serve as a reunion of sorts for Vidal and Inter manager Antonio Conte. The duo had great success at Serie A giant Juventus, where from 2011 to 2014, they won three consecutive league titles and two Supercoppas. Over his 15-year career, Vidal has also won trophies everywhere he’s played, starting with Chilean side Colo-Colo, as well as with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. In all, the mohawked midfielder has won 11 league titles, seven domestic cups, and the 2015 Copa America.

Vidal was under contract at Barca for one more season, however following Ronald Koeman’s hiring as team manager a few months ago, Vidal was yet another Barcelona player who was told his services were no longer needed. He along with Ivan Rakitic have already left, while other former Barca starter Luis Suarez should be out the door shortly.

The newest member of the Inter Milan squad took to Instagram following the announcement, thanking the club for their belief in him. “Thank you Inter for believing in me, my new teammates, and everyone at the club for the nice welcome. I hope we can win many things together. Forza Inter.”

Antonio Conte’s boys kickoff their Serie A campaign on Saturday when they take on fellow league standout Fiorentina inside the San Siro. He leaves a Barcelona side that will also begin their season on Saturday, when they’ll take on Villarreal.
