In a move that is sure to shake the foundation of the soccer world to the ground, Liverpool has completed a mammoth deal for Bayern Munich superstar midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The 29-year-old has penned a four-year deal to play for the reigning Premier League champions after the club sent a remarkably low £20-million fee to the reigning European champions. Bayern may also receive another £5-million in bonuses down the road.

Thiago comes to Liverpool after serving loyally at Bayern for seven seasons. While at the Allianz, the Spanish international morphed into one of the top overall midfielders in the world, and also helped Super Bayern win a truckload of trophies. While there, Thiago won seven league titles, four DFB-Pokals, three Supercups, a Club World Cup, and a Champions League. He now joins a Liverpool side that has only recently found their own taste for trophies.

As a matter of fact, Thiago noted Liverpool’s success as one of his reasons to join the club. “Because at the end, when the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more.” The 29-year-old said. “It also (has) this kind of family (feeling) that I need because we (like to) have a very close relationship with the club and I think I will feel this.”

More important than all that, however, is that Thiago made it clear that he was ready to work for his spot. “I must adapt to the team as fast as I can in the situation and the context that we are living right now.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp celebrated his newest arrival, saying, “I’m really happy to bring this wonderful person in as an add-on to the squad, which is just good for football reasons – but for all other reasons as well.”

While it is unclear when Thiago will first lace up his cleats for the first time this season, the club reportedly did register him earlier this week. That means that the newest Red could make his debut as early as this weekend in a pivotal early season matchup against Chelsea. Oddly enough, the Blues won’t be able to play any of their plethora of new players for an assortment of different reasons. So we could see LFC’s new number six as soon as Sunday.
