The New Orleans Pelicans have decided to dismiss head coach Alvin Gentry. The decision comes after the Pelicans failed to make a playoff push in the NBA bubble, something many expected them to accomplish with the return of rookie phenom Zion Williamson.
However, the team kept Zion on a strict minutes restriction even after the months of rest. The team under-performed regardless, leading to trade rumors for players such as Lonzo Ball who struggled greatly in Orlando.
The Pelicans join the Chicago Bulls as a lower tier team with young talent looking for a new head coach. Gentry coached for five seasons in New Orleans, ending with a 175-225 record.
