Due to a Covid-19 test that was found to be “inconclusive,” Sergio Perez has not yet arrived to the set up day in Silverstone, the site of this weekend’s British Grand Prix.

Because of this, Perez is self-isolating and awaiting permission to enter the circuit, which is Formula 1’s protocol. The permission will come after the results of a second test, which would need to be conclusive before he is allowed to enter the facility.

Since the beginning of the Project Restart program began, this is the first instance made public of a driver providing an inconclusive test. If Perez can not race this weekend, Racing Point will call on one of Mercedes’ reserve drivers, due to an existing agreement with the team. Racing Point will the have the choice of either Esteban Gutierrez or Stoffel Vandoorne if Perez can indeed not compete this weekend.
