Starting this weekend at the British Grand Prix, the black and orange cars fielded by McLaren will add a touch of blue to their cars, specifically, the legendary Gulf blue. Gulf and McLaren announced the partnership Wednesday, as both McLaren machines will carry the iconic blue Gulf color on their engine cover and wing mirrors going forward.

The McLaren and Gulf partnership is no stranger to the racing world, as both enjoyed racing success in the 60’s and 70’s competing in F1 and Can-Am. In the 1990’s, the partnership created one of the most iconic sports car liveries to this date, as the McLaren F1 GT1 car was adorned with the Gulf colors at Le Mans.

Commenting on the partnership, McLaren Racing CEO Zack Brown stated, “We’re delighted to welcome Gulf back to McLaren and reunite two iconic brands back together in a new and exciting partnership. Gulf is part of McLaren’s history and are well-known for their innovation and technical excellence in the industry, with which aligns with McLaren perfectly. We are looking forward to starting our partnership together this season.”
