In a change that has only occurred twice since the All-Star races creation, the 2020 NASCAR All-Star Race will be contested at Bristol Motor Speedway. The even will take place July 15th at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile” with fans in attendance for the first time since the beginning of the global coronvavirus pandemic.

The move, prompted by the desire to include fans at this event, and the on-going coronavirus data from state to state, made the Bristol, TN track the best choice. CEO and President of Speedway Motorsports Marcus Smith stated Tuesday that, “The NASCAR All-Star Race is an event known for making history, and we will enhance that legacy by hosting the event at Bristol Motor Speedway. While Charlotte will always be recognized as the birthplace and traditional home for the All-Star Race, the current data surrounding the pandemic in North Carolina makes Bristol a better option for fan access this summer.”

NASCAR and the speedway are currently finalizing the details for the race and fan procedures, to allow for proper precaution for the safety of the competitors, teams and most importantly, the fans.

The format for the 2020 All-Star race will be announced at a later date.
