The AHL has announced the award winners for the 2019-20 season. It declared that Josh Norris of the Belleville Senators had been voted the winner of the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award. The award is voted on by members of all 31 teams.
Norris, who came to Ottawa in the Erik Karlsson deal, had an amazing rookie campaign totaling 31 goals and 61 points in 56 games. He played two seasons for the University of Michigan in the NCAA and was originally drafted in the first round of the 2017 NHL draft to the San Jose Sharks. His future’s looking extremely bright and he should be in the Senators is top 6 for the next decade. He’s making the Karlsson trade look good for Ottawa.
On top of the rookie of the year award, Norris also earned spots on the AHL’s first all star team and the AHL’s first all rookie team.
