Possible Reason Alex Bregman Left Klutch Sports Agent

On Tuesday, May 19th, Houston Astros third baseman, and the 2019 AL MVP runner-up Alex Bregman announced he was leaving his agent, Brodie Scoffield, who is the baseball arm of Klutch Sports. Klutch Sports is operated by LeBron James’ long time agent Rich Paul, and even though James isn’t an owner, he may be a reason Bregman decided to leave.

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic at least four different sources close to Alex Bregman have said that one of the main reasons for the split was due to LeBron James’ media company, Uninterrupted, taking on a docuseries on the Houston Astros’ sign stealing scandal. Per Rosenthal, the source said Bregman felt “angry” and “betrayed” by his agent, Brodie Scoffield, whose company took over the baseball side of Klutch Sports last month, that a fellow Klutch client (and for all intents and purposes the biggest star in all of sports today) would take on a project detailing one of the worst scandals in sports history, which Bregman was a part of.

Undisputed, the media company James created with business partner and best friend Maverick Carter, is partnering with The Cinemart to produce the Astros’ series, which is currently titled “Sign Language” (awesome name by the way), and is said to be released on Quibi, which is a short-form content platform.

It should be noted that sole reason isn’t suspected to be the docuseries, however it was an “overriding factor”. LeBron himself was very outspoken on Twitter when the story broke. Ken Rosenthal made an excellent point regarding Bregman and whoever his next agent will be. It’s almost impossible at this point to find a high profile agent that doesn’t have ties to someone who is wasn’t/isn’t happy with the Astros as many in the league have voiced their displeasure with the team.
