As of Tuesday the New York Jets have officially put WR Quincy Enunwa on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. The team was expected to make this move. There is a good chance that Enunwa has played his final NFL down.
Enunwa officially injured his neck in 2017. He played the 2018 season in amazing fashion and landed himself a four year, $33.4 million extension. One game into the 2019 season, he re-injured his neck. He is now guaranteed to miss the entire 2020 season.
He will still cost the Jets cap room a total of $7.8 million with his $6 million fully guaranteed 2020 salary regardless of injury. The Jets can’t cut him without serious cap issues.
Enunwa was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 draft. In his career he had 119 receptions for 1,617 yards and five touchdowns. This neck injury very well could have spelt the end of his playing career.
