On May 2 1972, a legend was born; Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The now famous actor was born in Hayward, California and has seen a life full of success. Whether it be football, wrestling or acting, he really has done it all and has excelled in everything.

He initially aspired to become a pro football player. He was a defensive tackle for the University of Miami from 1990-95 and won a National Championship with them in 1991. He decided to enter the NFL draft in 1995 but went undrafted due to an injury his senior year that ended his hopes. He then turned to the CFL, but got cut. He returned from camp with only 7$ in bank.

The Rock came from a family of wrestlers. His dad was known as Rocky Johnson and his grandfather as Peter Maivia. Both wrestled in the World Wrestling Federation. In 1996 The Rock secured a contract with the WWF, he would be promoted as the first ever third generation wrestler. He was active from 1996 to 2004 and then from 2011 to 2019 and went on to become one of the most successful and famous wrestlers to ever sign with the federation who’s now known as the WWE.

Being an extremely motivated guy, he used his success in the ring to propel his acting career. He got his first role in The Mummy Returns in 2001 and the rest has been history. Since then, he has starred in a multitude of wildly successful movies. Some of his most notable roles are The Fast & Furious, Jumanji and San Andres, to name a few. He has also expanded his career to the TV series Ballers on which he was also a producer. He has also hit the animated movie scene with a role in the Disney hit Moana.

I think The Rock is a great example of perseverance. He was once a failed football player and has since became an award winning movie star worth over 300 million dollars. We should all live trying to find the next great opportunity like he does.
