In an announcement made by NASCAR Thursday, the planned debut of the newest generation of NASCAR race car will have to wait another season, as the 2021 debut of the car will be pushed back to 2022.
A statement made by NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Innovation John Probst Thursday included that the car would delayed to due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic across the globe. He also stated that, “The decision was made in collaboration with the OEMs and team owners. We will continue to develop the Next Gen car, and a revised testing timeline will be shared when more information is available.”
The car, which has received praise by the few drivers that have tested it, will have to wait another full season to debut in competition.
