A new wave of athletic young quarterbacks have come to dominate the NFL. With the traditional drop-back statues in the backfield slowly retiring, let’s look at the best of the young QBs who will succeed them. These are my top five QBs under 25 years of age.

5. Baker Mayfield (24)

Career Stats: 12W, 17L, 7552 yds, 49 TDs, 35 INTs

Even after a difficult 2019 campaign, I do think he still has the potential to be a pro-bowl QB in the NFL. He has all the weapons around him, and now an experienced head coach to run the show in Cleveland.

4. Josh Allen (23)

Career Stats: 15W, 12L, 5163 yds, 30 TDs, 21 INTs

Allen took a big step forward last year cleaning up his turnovers and leading the Bills to a playoff berth. With the addition of Stefon Diggs, I think he will lead the Bills to be the new powerhouse of the AFC East.

3. DeShaun Watson (24)

Career Stats: 24W, 13L, 9716 yds, 71 TDs, 29 INTs

Watson continued to impress last season with his ability and was able to get his first playoff win. It will be interesting to see if he can overcome the loss of his favorite target DeAndre Hopkins. I still believe he will be one of the faces of the league for many years to come.

2. Lamar Jackson (23)

Career Stats: 19W, 3L, 4328 yds, 42 TDs, 9 INTs

I can’t say enough about Jackson. He desirably won the league MVP last season; it was much-watch television every time the Ravens played. The only question about Jackson is: Can he do it in the playoffs? The Ravens need to take the next step before they must pay Jackson.

1. Patrick Mahomes (24)

Career Stats: 24W, 7L, 9412 yds, 76 TDs, 18 INTs

Mahomes is the best player in the NFL right now, and now he has a Super Bowl ring to solidify his spot at the top. The only negative in his career so far is his health. If he can stay on the field, nobody in the league is better.
