Tonight, Brain Cage faced Rob Van Dam at Impact Wrestling’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view, a match that ended fairly quickly in a “no contest”. While the finish may have seemed confusing at first, the following report most likely explains this decision.
According to SoCalUncensored, Cage has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling, and will be debuting on their weekly program in the “very near future.”
Cage became a free agent once his contract with Impact had expired, and had received offers from multiple promotions including Ring of Honor (ROH), who was said to have offered the highest dollar amount. Additionally, Cage was offered an extension from Impact to stay with the company.
However, it’s clear that Cage has decided to take his talents to the newest dog in the yard, and arguably the one with the most to offer him as far as exposure.
At this time, neither Cage nor AEW has confirmed these reports.
Cage has a long resume of accomplishments in his career, including being a former Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Champion, Impact World Champion, X-Divison Champion (Impact Wrestling), and ranked in the Top 50 of singles wrestlers on Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s list of Top 500.
