Pittsburgh Penguins’ Sidney Crosby is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks after having successful surgery to repair a core muscle injury.
It came out yesterday that Crosby had been playing this entire season with a sports hernia and was considering surgery.
On the season Crosby has a total of 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) in 17 games played.
This is yet another substantial injury to a Penguins’ team that has experienced terrible luck this season, losing Evgeni Malkin earlier in the season to a long term lower body injury.
Pittsburgh is currently fourth in the Metropolitan Division with 23 points.
